Your air conditioning is part of your HAVC system. Which stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. It’s an important part of your car’s functionality. It keeps you comfortable in any season with the right amount humidity and temperature. It also helps with defrosting your car. It should be checked annually. If you are unsure of your maintenance history, we at Sunny Service Center keep track of that for you.
Here are some of the most asked questions:
What would happen if you continued to use your A/C system when it’s not working properly?
Well, like anything that is not working properly with continued use, it can cause even worse damage. It can damage your compressor and/or your condenser. These are used year around to aid in defrosting your car. Using your A/C system during the winter also keeps the oil flowing thru the system to keep the seals lubricated so it does not leak.
Is it normal for water to drip under your car when you use your A/C system?
Yes. Just like it you window ac unit, water will be expelled/drip after and during use. This is usual condensation. If you see colors or a shine that is not water and should be checked.
My A/C system smells musty, is there anything wrong? Is there anything that can be done about it?
This could be a buildup of mold and or bacteria, while not so dangerous for your car, it can cause health issues. It could also be your cabin air filter, which should be replaced annually. Our partner BG does offer a duct cleaning product that we use to sterilize and clean you’re A/C system.
Why is my compressor engaging on and off?
This is not a problem. It shows that your compressor and clutch are working. If it seems off to you, we can always test it for you to give you peace of mind.
Testing your A/C System:
When we test your Air Conditioning System, we inject a dye, check to see if the system holds vacuum and evacuate the system and measure the refrigerant to make sure the system is properly filled. The Dye allows us to find any leaks within the system.
